She wasn’t sure how long they had left her in the windowless room in the basement of the office, but it was long enough that she had time to count the dark wooden planks in the walls several times over.
Twenty-five planks high, and no more than one or two planks long, approximately four meters by five meters. There were metal filing cabinets stacked along one side of the room, and an old wooden desk and a pair of chairs stacked next to it. A fluorescent lamp sitting on the table provided illumination.
It was some kind of records room, but why they’d choose to file physical copies of documents instead of electronic was beyond her. There was a definite dampness to the room. That couldn’t have helped the documents in the folders any.
Her stomach rumbled. It was probably close to dinner time. She figured Olaf stuck her in here to give her time to think about what she’d done.
